It’s okay to need a break. Many adults are taking responsibility for their parents or other loved ones in their own middle and old age, pitching in their time and finances to ensure an enjoyable retirement for the people who gave so much for them. Thinking about your own health in that time isn’t selfish, and you should take advantage of services available to you to help manage it.
Providing for a senior with care needs every day can make work, running errands, or even just relaxing difficult. Seeking help with caregiving is completely normal, and Angels Senior Living is pleased to offer all-inclusive respite care to seniors in the Tampa Bay Area. Seniors diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia are also welcome for respite care at many of our communities offering full-time memory care. Our memory care staff receive extra training to ensure the needs of our memory care seniors are met.
Our respite care program gives caregivers a break and seniors a “short-term assisted living” experience before returning them to their home and normal routine of care. Seniors staying for respite care receive the same LEGENDARY CARE and services we provide to all our residents. This includes, but isn’t limited to:
- Assistance with activities of daily living
- Medication management (additional fees may apply)
- Access to meals and our all-day dining program
- Access to activities, social events, happy hours, and other special events
- Weekly laundry, housekeeping, and linen service
- Wi-Fi access
- A variety of exciting amenities like on-site beauty salons, movie theaters, and more depending on your location
But respite care isn’t limited to services at our facilities. We also offer private duty services, where certified home health aides (HHAs) can assist in providing care for your senior or loved one. A home health aide can offer a variety of care services to help you keep your senior happy, healthy, and engaged, including:
- Dressing and grooming
- Light housekeeping
- Medication reminders
- Meal preparation and eating assistance
- Grocery shopping
- Running errands
Our respite care program goes beyond what other assisted living organizations may offer. We can also meet many of the health care or recovery needs you or your loved one may have during your respite. We provide comprehensive therapy services in our Tampa facilities, including physical, speech, and occupational therapy. Therapy is also available in the home, and we manage home health agencies in Tampa and Clearwater to give our seniors full access to care at any stage of their health.
Excellent Culinary Options
Our respite care seniors enjoy their meals with our residents, right down to the same, delicious food! Our regional managing chef works with each facility’s executive chef and kitchen staff to create exciting seasonal menus all the way from development to presentation.
Fun Activities & Events
Our respite care residents get access to the same activities we offer our residents, including exercise classes, sightseeing and shopping, games, and more!
Each of our communities is unique and offers different amenities to its residents and respite care seniors. This may include chapels for worship and meditation, lovely courtyards and gardens, movie theaters, reflection areas, and more to enjoy depending on your choice.

We currently offer respite care services at all our assisted living facilities throughout Tampa, Land O’ Lakes, and Sarasota except Angels Senior Living at North Tampa and Angels Senior Living at Palma Ceia. See our communities page for more information on our locations.
You can! Respite care services are available periodically, too. Whether you’re going on vacation and seeking a temporary caregiver or would like a more frequent hand to help carry the load of caring for your parent or loved one, we can do that! See our private duty page for more information on our locations.
Respite care is all-inclusive for the duration of your loved one’s stay. Seniors at our facilities for respite care care receive the same delicious food, participate in the same fun activities, and build the same PERSONAL CONNECTIONS our residents and staff share. We consider caring for you or your mom or dad a privilege every step of the way.
We also offer additional services like speech pathology, physical therapy, and home health nursing depending on your loved one’s needs. Respite care seniors can take advantage of our services exactly as our residents do.
Respite care is identical to assisted living except for how long a senior stays in a facility. Respite stays generally last a week or two, sometimes lasting up to a month. This gives the caregiver a chance to recharge and focus on other things they may need to accomplish knowing their loved one’s needs are met during that break.
Respite care seniors spend the night and receive the same attention our residents do. This could include help with activities of daily living like hygiene, ambulation (walking), medication management, and more. Respite care seniors can take full advantage of the amenities and entertainment each community offers or plans.
Respite care is available 365 days a year. Respite care lasts anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depending on your needs and specific arrangement. Our normal respite care period is around two weeks.
Each facility runs their own respite care. Residents staying for respite care spend the night at our facilities. Unlike adult day care, respite care offers the full assisted living experience for a short time. Contact our corporate office or your facility of choice directly to discuss respite care availability.
You can use respite care seven days a week for however long you or your loved one needs it. Our respite care stays usually last around two weeks, but may be up to a month for seniors or caregivers interested in “test driving” assisted living.
There is no limit to how often you can enter a senior into respite care, but we encourage you to call us to discuss more thoughtful, cost-effective options that may be available to you.
Our assisted living employees are our respite care employees! This means your loved one gets access to the best in assisted living care during their respite care stay.
